Floris
Located on the Nieuwe Gracht in the Coenders neighborhood, the Floris project serves as an example of the use of biodiversity in the city. On the Graaf Floriskade, 9 spacious townhouses have been built by Ballast Nedam West on behalf of Ballast Nedam Development. The Floris townhouses are unique in their kind. They have their own recognizable facade and range from 145 to 160 m2. All houses are individually designed and have their own appearance. One of the houses even has a completely green facade with living plants, the design inspired by Mondrian's paintings. Differences are in the floor plans, storey height, the design and use of materials of the facades and the possibilities for a loft. Living in Floris can rightly be called unique!
Green facade
The green facade is one of the solutions used by Ballast Nedam Development to give substance to the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals to which the company is a signatory. The design of the green facade, which came about during the year of Mondrian: 2017, harks back to the characteristic division of surfaces that made the artist famous. The green façade not only makes for exceptional architecture, but also encourages a more sustainable world through its climate-adaptive and nature-inclusive properties. For example, a green facade contributes to air purification, lower ambient temperature, heat regulation and biodiversity in the city. Moreover, people feel much more comfortable in a green environment.
Sempergreen's modular facade system is made up of pre-grown panels. For the Floris project, three different planting mixes have been used in Mondrian's characteristic division of surfaces. Thanks to a fully automatic irrigation system, the green exterior facade is provided with the right amount of water and nutrients.
Nine designs
All Floris homes, designed by Faro Architects, distinguish themselves in different architectural forms, from classic to playfully modern. As a result, they fit in well with the rest of the Coenders neighborhood and Delft's city center. What is also worth mentioning is the sustainability of the houses. These are standard gasless and thus “all electric” implemented. Through good insulation, ventilation and underfloor heating, the houses are completely contemporary.
Floris is located opposite Delft's train station and the old center with all amenities. Parking is available in a collective parking garage away from the homes. This encourages sustainable mobility, as it becomes more attractive to use the bicycle or public transport.
Responsible towards the next generations and in the short term nice because of the comfort.
