Engelse Park
In Groningen, we are developing 95 sustainable, energy-efficient, and comfortable homes in collaboration with VolkerWessels Vastgoed. In the English Park, greenery is predominant, creating a park-like character. Ecologically too, it will truly become a park, with ample space provided for bats.
The architecture of English Park symbolizes unparalleled freedom; a fusion of living with nature and space for community. This park not only literally creates a new horizon that can be admired from every threshold but also figuratively embodies a progressive architectural concept. This concept intertwines architecture, urban development, energy efficiency, and landscape design into a cohesive whole.
The site where once stood the three office buildings of DUO in Groningen, at Engelse Kamp, has been unrecognizably transformed. Previously, the greenery and trees served as a division between the industrial zone and the Helpman neighborhood. Now, they form the natural boundaries of a park, the English Park, where greenery, landscape features, and historical background merge into an innovative urban planning and architectural concept. The English Park is designed with consideration for various scale levels: the landscape, the city, the street, and even individual homes. Everything, from the infrastructure to the house numbers and facade lighting, has been designed by Bedaux de Brouwer Architects. They have created a coherent, nature-inclusive, and energy-neutral neighborhood with a unique identity.
