Minister of Nature and Nitrogen Christianne van der Wal together with Onno Dwars (CEO, Ballast Nedam Development) and Frank van Vliet (Alderman for Climate, Culture and Public Space Municipality of Delft) paid an inspiring working visit to the nature-inclusive area development Nieuw Delft. In this area, the former railroad split the city in Two. By bringing the intesive infrastructure of the railroad underground, space was obtained in the inner city of Delft to develop a new area. Nieuw Delft, Developed by Ballast Nedam Development, is an urban area with every imaginable amenity next to the historic center. The Minister and invited guests visited Nieuw Delft accompanied by experts and residents. Here it was easy to see what opportunities the removal of intensive infrastructure can offer for people and nature in an inner-city environment. Also presented were the measures included in the covenant on future-proof building and already applied in the projects visited.
