Minister Hugo de Jonge supports Bouwblik op Morgen initiative during real estate fair Provada

On the first day of Provada, an important collaboration was launched that aims to transform the construction industry in the Netherlands. Six young talents from the leading construction companies - Ballast Nedam, BAM, Dura Vermeer, Heijmans, TBI and VolkerWessels - joined forces and jointly signed the cooperation covenant 'Bouwblik op Morgen'. Minister Hugo de Jonge expressed his support for this initiative during the signing and struck the gong to reinforce this moment.

In today's challenging market, cooperation is invaluable. That is why these young builders have taken the initiative to create the covenant “Building Look at Tomorrow. This covenant calls for a culture of openness, transparency and trust between the companies involved and marks a first step towards more connection and cooperation within the construction industry.

Rosa Bos, Developer at Ballast Nedam Development said, “As young builders, we are determined to make a positive and constructive contribution to the construction sector. We realize that we are the ones shaping our future. By signing the 'Bouwblik op Morgen' covenant, we have made the following agreements to make our voices heard. Bouwblik op Morgen will be an annual meeting for young talents from major construction companies. We will start knowledge circles around specific themes to go deeper into topics with peers from other companies. In addition, we aim to actively share the perspective of young builders.”

The young builders' perspective focuses on creating a healthy, sustainable living environment. During the Building Look at Tomorrow 2023 event, more than 100 young talents from major construction companies jointly developed a perspective. Among other things, they advocate a car-free city and the reconsideration of the major role played by the car. They also name solution directions such as encouraging affordable and smaller homes with less environmental impact per unit. They believe that bio-based construction and the fair pricing of CO2 emissions are going to help make the sector CO2 neutral. The young generation wants to go green radically and emphasizes the power of digitalization and innovation and the importance of future-proof construction.

Minister Hugo de Jonge, who attended the signing ceremony, praised the commitment and initiative of these young builders. He stressed the importance of cooperation and innovation in the construction sector and showed his support for 'Bouwblik op Morgen'. The minister expressed confidence in the positive changes this cooperation will bring and stressed the importance of a sustainable and inclusive Netherlands. He expressed his eagerness to engage with this young generation of builders in the near future.
The launch of 'Bouwblik op Morgen' marks an important turning point in the construction sector. It shows that the young generation of builders is determined to bring about change and take the sector to a higher level. With this covenant, they hope not only to increase connection and cooperation within the construction industry, but also to have a positive and lasting impact on the construction sector.
