The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations has announced new measures towards a climate-positive construction sector, tightening the Environmental Performance Indicator (EPI), which assesses the climate impact of construction materials, from 0.8 to 0.5 for new residential buildings. Today, Ballast Nedam Development celebrates, as a co-initiator of numerous agreements advocating for these changes, the success achieved in rapid collaboration with advocacy groups, governments, and businesses.
According to Ballast Nedam Development, climate and construction can coexist very well, but a level playing field and a strong vision from the government are essential. Ballast Nedam Development has often been at the forefront of major transitions in housing construction. For instance, the company developed fully gas-free and energy-neutral buildings well before it became legislation.
